Second of the two full-bodied style Pomerols in the flight is shrouded in a black-red robe with a slight purple tinge at the edge. Very concentrated nose of burnt caramel and very ripe cassis on a pleasant oak. Liquorice, burnt toast and coffee all evident. Young, full, not yet harmonious but firm and juicy and showing great promise. A powerful Pomerol with a developing empyreumatic bouquet.

Colheita Single Harvest Tawny Port
Special Offer | WAS
£32.95 | NOW £24.95
The Messias colheita port from the good 2004 vintage has been aged in a barrel until bottling in 2017.
It has a beautiful straw colour. Young, fruity fresh aromas that evolve over time, giving rise to a bouquet that brings out the aromas of dried fruits, aromas of roasting, wood and spices. Soft, harmony and complexity in the end. Great finish - excellent wine.
The extended barrel aging has given this wine a complex fusion of dried fruit and cedar notes. On the palate the wine is smooth and full bodies with plenty nuts and sweet fruit on the palate, fine balance. A tremendous finish which goes on forever.

Barolo is known as the 'king of wines' and is made from the Nebbiolo grape. Heady aromas of rose, leather, vanilla, cherry, pepper, cranberry, strawberry. Fruits are perfectly knitted with the tannins and acidity. It's a powerful wine but remarkably subtle. Don't underestimate it and certainly serve it with food to show at it's best. Nebbiolo has naturally high tannins and acidity, so it will take on full-flavoured, rich foods, hearty stews and mature cheeses.
